    Namekagon Encounter

Everyone who loves what we all love, should do the Nam. It's surprisingly a most excellent canoe trip by any standard.

Turtle Flambeau Flowage , my pup Max ‘s first trip … success!!

Bob B. below your comment nailed it. The quiet water section is nice. Really nice if the water is lower which keeps a lot of the motor traffic out of that "Voluntary Quiet Waters" section due to shallow stump fields and weeds. And that's ok because it's my favorite part of the lake. The fishing...

    Which Canoe Should I Take?

For rivers? My Penobscot paddled backwards has never left me without a smile on my face. Love that all-rounder.

Always a nice trip. One of my favorite haunts to paddle and camp.

    Humorous outdoor situations or events

The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is about 35 minutes from my home back in PA. Lots of day tripping tubers from the cities and a wonderful tripping river with multiple campsites that hardly anyone uses. I used to do at least 3 trips a year from About Milford down to Kittatinny take...

What's your morning routine on canoe trips?

Coffee.........some more coffee and a nice breakfast. Quick clean up and hit the water. Unless the forecast is for wind. Then I break camp right away (maybe after one quick cup of coffee) and hit the water before it comes up.

    Greetings from the UP

You live in a giant playground......use it! Paddling opportunities are really great there. I'm close by and spend lots of time there.

The Appeal of a Long Wilderness Trip?

For me, I was running from a long line of just things that weren't sitting right with me in life. I was handling it, but wasn't happy. I saw no end in sight, no light at the end of the tunnel. Just left my job one day, cleaned up a divorce and took off for 3.5 months of paddling and backpacking...

    Things you've lost or misplaced on a canoe trip . . .

On one trip, my son left a small backpack full of fishing gear. We left an island, got to another spot for lunch and realized it was left behind. I got in my Zephyr with a double blade and hauled arse back to the small island, just to see a group of six guys setting up. Total time was exactly 42...

    Back again

I built this company a few years ago as a "prt time gig" but within 13 months, it exploded. At that time, my son was finishing up college and helping me. He loved the business so I gave him half of it. The rest of the time, I'm really just helping him set up the last few big accounts and getting...

    Back again

Yes, added location. I'm finding this forum to be vastly different than when I took that long break. I really like it. Just like my backpacking and other forums, I'm looking for like-minded people. I like to do trips and it's always nice to open a few up to meeting up with others.

    Back again

Hi again. It's been a long time since I've been here and was very happy to see the forum still going. As I prepare to turn my business over a little at a time and find myself with blocks of free time, I have been itching to get in more canoe camping. The 2-3 trips a year I do is just not cutting...
