    Preferred tripping style ?

I must admit that I also have been looking at alternate ways to the blue barrel. They don't take up space efficiently in the canoe and are uncomfy to carry. As I get older, there is less flesh on the bones to buffer that hard plastic when portaging. G.

    Abandoned Canoes?

Anyone who has been down the Thelon in the early 2000's must remember these sore sightings.

    Preferred tripping style ?

Arctic trips with others (2 to 3 canoes for sharing the expense reasons), a couple of 30 day trips with a tandem canoe, mostly with the wife. Other than that always solo or on occasion 2 solo canoes and the great company of Robin and a while back with Ted. I also loved the solo canoe get...

    Argosy for sale Québec

Thanks YC. It is, but of course there are many very slight sand scrapes. I'm looking for something a little bigger, as I sometimes include a large dog in my trips. Hope all is well with you and yours. G.

    Argosy for sale Québec

I have a Red Royalex Argosy for sale. Never ran rapids with it. Always stored indoors. Great condition. Comes with yoke, keeling pad and pop off safety seat (that would avoid entrapment). Stored indoors. Will not deliver. Situated in Quebec, Canada. $1000.00 CND firm. Photos...

    Kneeling Part 1

alsg, I was just going to ask if anyone uses a saddle for tripping in a solo canoe. The saddle would probably be light enough if made from closed cell material. Also, would a sliding closed cell saddle, such as those used in white water solos boats, clear enough headspace when portaging? I tried...

    Kneeling Part 1

lowangle said: A higher seat would probably be of help now. No, the canoe is not unstable seated, but I prefer the stability and paddling ease kneeling brings. I may not have a choice. Thanks.

    Kneeling Part 1

Thanks Glenn. My injury to the quad prevents me from doing this. Lacking about 10 degrees to get to where I was before surgery. Thanks stevet. Was once able to do that while lake travelling. Now one side is limited. G.

    Kneeling Part 1

If anyone has any tricks to make kneeling for long periods of time more comfortable, please let me know. Had a torn quad (just above the knee cap) repaired about 8 years ago, and since then I'm only good for about 10 consecutive minutes of kneeling. Maybe raising my seat a little bit. In my...

A Nomad in our future? Just curious.

Thanks Glenn for your response. Too bad re the Nomad mold. If Swift revives the Wildfire In lightweight materials I think they would sell. G.

A Nomad in our future? Just curious.

Yes, just curious. Does anyone know if the Nomad mold or plug is still dormant somewhere (Colden) or has someone move it to a new location hoping to bring it back to life. Gerald

    LaVerendrye-circuit 77-First solo Canadian Trip

Love reading your TRs Robin. Makes me feel like heading back up there. Drank the water directly from the lakes again this past September. Wonderful and safe place to travel as we head up the age scale. Every time I go there, I think we should have another solo gathering before we all pack it in...

    Tripwire campsite warning devices

Saw this on social media this morning. Heard of people using pots, pans and string to enclose their campsite, now there is an easier way for them to feel secure at night. G.

    Multi pocket canoe packs

Alan: That BUSHCRAFTER pack looks like something I could use. How high does it carry on your shoulders? Does it interfere with portaging a canoe? Gerald

Waterdog: That's an interesting Link. It's something like their tactical packs that I had in mind. Thanks. Scratchypants: That is something to consider. Thanks. G.
