Depending on one’s age having someone with you wouldn’t be a bad idea. I heard that an older gentleman lay in his home for four days before anyone checked on him. He is now in a facility and was severely damaged from his stroke.
Just got back from spending a few day up in the dak’s and the water levels are down and the mountains are just silhouettes from the haze from the Canadian wildfires.
What I found when I switched from a narrow pack canoe to a wider pack canoe that the 230 cm paddle I use to use was not in the water very long and I had lost efficiency. When I switched to a 250 cm paddle with the wider canoe my speed increased significantly.
About the only thing I dislike on my 2023 Subaru Outback XT is the factory rack. I have had a Thule square bar rack since my 2014 and 2017 BMW’s and it has served me well for 9 years. So I have been searching for a way to use the Thule on my Subaru and I may have found solution.
Thule no longer...
Yes, that’s the only thing I dislike about our 2023 Outback Limited XT, the rack. I am going to try Inno INFR mounts to attach my Thule square bars on the aluminum corners of the current rack.
The rack on the new 2026 Outback is going to be good for carrying canoes.
Ok, no need for pictures. My 2023 XT has the not canoe friendly factory rack. Wish it had the Wilderness rack, but looks like the new 2026 Outback will have a better rack.
I had a 230 and paddle low angle, but when I bought my Northstar Trillium pack canoe the cockpit is wider and I noticed the 230 wasn’t in the water very long. Switched to a 250 and the difference was night and day, much more speed.
