My quietest stroke is doing in water recoveries with either my Kettlewell modified otter or the ottertail I carved, which has an even longer blade. But I'm finding that I can be pretty quiet with my Zavs and my BB Viper, just by doing as @yknpdlr suggests.

Oh, as already mentioned - if it turns out that is bondo, I'd chip all of that out as much as possible and start from scratch with thickened epoxy. JB Weld also works.

I think it's turning out pretty good.

I understand, but do these look stressed? With slow movements and blade in the water, I manage to get some pretty good photos without disturbing the subject. It's part of why I love canoes. Thumping the gunnel works against this. BTW, my departure is as careful as my approach. No ducks...
