    LL Bean Hunters Carryall Pack

For what would you use this pack? Could it carry a birding spotting scope perhaps?

    The new Swift Cirrus canoe

That is exceedingly tempting. EXCEEDINGLY tempting. But I think I need to hold off until I am done with my National Boards - I have already promised myself a new WildFIRE if/when I achieve (and I should be able to actually afford it if I achieve). But it is still very very very very tempting...

    The new Swift Cirrus canoe

The pricing is up on the Swift website - looks like $3750 CAD base for the Cirrus and $3895 CAD for the D-15...

    The new Swift Cirrus canoe

How did they elevate the (presumably pack) seat in your Placid?

    The new Swift Cirrus canoe

I was messaging with Bill on Facebook and my impression is the mold is not in great shape. Not sure how well the WildFIRE is selling - I do know I have every intention of getting one, but I need to wait until done my National Board Certification (assuming I achieve)! I'm hoping they'll do a...

    Sven saw history

That is a fantastic story. This is still the saw I carry with me on backcountry trips. About the only weakness I can see with it is that the thumb screw can be lost easily, but I always carry a spare in my repair kit. Love this saw!

    The new Swift Cirrus canoe

Up on the website now: https://swiftcanoe.com/boat/cirrus-14-6/ I am very very sad this is replacing the WildFIRE in the lineup (hopefully they will still make one for me), but I am curious how the two will stack up to each other. The Cirrus is slightly longer and slightly taller - so perhaps a...

    Useful Youtube for Canoe Tripping

I wish they would make more - the chanel has been dormant for a while, however the creaters are quick to respond if you ask a question. This channel inspires me to do more with my Camper to be sure - I plan on making a pedestal seat this spring to use the Camper on the George Washington Canal...

    Useful Youtube for Canoe Tripping

One of my favorites hands down. Her route ideas are great for flat-water trips, and her meal planning is exemplary - WAY WAY better than anything I have done!

    Lining Harness?

Cool setup! Is that a Charles River?

    RockSTAR or SRT?

In case it's not obvious - I am stressing about my RockSTAR dilemma on nearly an hourly basis! :ROFLMAO::LOL: I just found a Royalex RockSTAR that I can grab - and am curious if anyone has any experience in both? I'm sure the Royalex version will be less efficient to paddle (as are most Royalex...

    Lining Harness?

This is great stuff - thanks!

    Lining Harness?

Anyone have experience lining with a tied-on harness? I am debating adding a lining-hole set up with PVC before doing the Big Salmon and potentially the Missinaibi this summer if I keep my RockSTAR, but have also thought about just using harnesses around the carrying handles fore and aft. Not...

    Bell Rockstar

Thought I would revive an old thread (yet again) to air my thoughts about the RockSTAR. I am very torn about it at the moment, and keep vacillating back and forth between keeping and trading. I will say that paddling the RockSTAR has been fantastic; it is quite deep in the midship, making for...

Who’s still paddling a Royalex solo boat

    Any idea which models??

The New Swift/DY Redesign of the Dragonfly

I paddled a StarFIRE this summer for a couple of weeks and sadly found it very underwhelming. It was particularly depressing to me as I LOVE LOVE LOVE the WildFIRE and I have a FlashFIRE - but the StarFIRE, while very stable in rapids, felt to me more like paddling a prospector - it was hard to...

The New Swift/DY Redesign of the Dragonfly

The DF15 is sounding more and more like my RockSTAR. I find the RockSTAR plenty playful, however I have yet to paddle it loaded. It's quick to heel which I enjoy, and locks up once you get on the shoulder. I think the real comparison / competition in this category is between DF15, RockSTAR, and...

New Swift Tandem - Lavieille 17-6

Somewhere I read that this design was spurred by the interest of Algonquin Outfitters, so I am guessing there must be some rental need for such a canoe. I believe that outfitter is owned by Bill's brother, so I imagine they have quite a bit of sway - but it still must be pretty legitimate to go...

New Swift Tandem - Lavieille 17-6

Not a boat for me - but interesting to see a new Swift tandem when there's been so much focus on solos recently... https://swiftcanoe.com/boat/lavieille-17-6/

Double blade paddle . . . worth it?

I took a double-blade and a single-blade to Algonquin once a couple of years ago - and found things a bit of a PITA to deal with on portages. The collapsible double-blade breaks down to what amounts to two paddles on a portage, so you have to deal with three. I usually bungee my paddles in the...
