    Another BWCA route suggestion

So I just secured the Weasel lake PMA permit for May 13th, going to go check out if you can still get from lake two to clearwater via rock island. Be interesting to see if the portages are passable at all.

    Another BWCA route suggestion

Yeah, avoid Moose unless the border opens. Went there last year and all over was a zoo because everyone had to stay in MN. Probably the busiest area until the border opens.

Don't know, they made it part of a PMA so all 3 portages between clearwater and lake two aren't maintained and the campsite on Rock Island was taken out.

    Another BWCA route suggestion

The portage from Clearwater to lake two was abandoned by the forest service a few years back so I'm guessing it's in pretty bad shape. I have twice in high water gone down the creek out of clearwater through pagami into lake one. Some bushwhacking but a lot of fun.

    Another BWCA route suggestion

At this point depending on timing may be very dependent on where you can get a permit for. If the border is not open avoid entry points that have access to or are close to the border, the permit quotas were not changed to account for folks all having to stay on the mn side so those are there...

Just purchased 16' Esquif Prospecteur T-Formex, should I get the 17' foot instead?

Prospector is a pretty universal design, most manufacturers make one. I love the 16' Merrimack one, stated load is 900 lbs and I can tell you the more weight in it the better the performance. This design was made for carrying a load so pushing it closer to it's capacity should not be an issue.

What's going to be your first trip once the border opens

First trip north of the border will be WCPP, had it all scheduled for 2020, realistically looking at 2022. Pretty much the bwca this year although my travels may allow me to hit up somewhere in the ADK.

    Dogs in Tents?

The pup helped me answer the age old question - tarp under tent or inside? My tent lets me hang my hammock in/ through it so it's perfect for me and the pup, I sleep in the hammock and she sleeps underneath me although there was that morning she tried climbing in the hammock. :)

    Permits Available?

The border closure is a month to month thing, now through 3/21. I wonder if there is any chance it will open some time this year.

    Hello from Minnesota

Welcome, glad to see another Minnesotan! Got 14" of snow one year over MEA on Isabella lake, almost didn't get out because they don't plow those roads.
