New Issue with my Swift portage yoke

If they are using RTV to anchor the seats and drywall poppets (equivalent) to anchor the yokes, my opinion of Swift just took a serious hit. I have a Shearwater and it is fantastic. But, it has standard-hung seating on aluminum gunwales and a clamp-on yoke system.

Leaving for the still "frozen" North, Riviere Megiscane

Reversed course this morning and hit a takeout to the south. Looks like they found a shuttle of some kind and are now at the train station in Senneterre. Good effort team. That was undoubtedly quite an exercise in mental toughness. Way to go.

Pretty good stretch today. Hitting camp at 21:30... Looks like they are in the bush tonight.

Pretty good progress today. Looks like at least one tough portage. Definitely a beach for the night, at which they did not arrive until after 8p EST.

It was, indeed, ice. They've been battened in all day today as well. "Stymied by ice once again, the wind has blow what hasn't melted into the north end of the next lake. Back at the dam trying to stay warm in our tent shelter."

What do you use for a table?

Thanks for the link! It says deburred and polished edges and joints, which i find rare on most chinesium off-label products. Is the fit and finish up to snuff?

Retracing could be tricky with the rivers and channels at spring melt levels. He mentioned a "tuneup rapid" on the 9th. They currently have a pretty clear shot at a provincial route to their east (red circle). That would *maybe* give them an opportunity for pickup depending on road conditions...

Looks like an out-and-back today. Hopefully not ice again. Note says they had a good camp last night and they are (were) heading out for another day of paddling.

Man, they covered some serious ground today! Looks like a nice beach for a reward. *edit* That is not a beach, it is some kind of dam.

Looking at the sat images from 04/27, the closest open water I could find was over 130km south. Man, I feel for him.

Oh man, this is from 04/27/2025. I hope they had a FAST thaw. Looks like they did an out and back today. The note says "paddle", so I'm hopeful.

Pack animals are the ticket. Teenagers cost more to feed than goats, and are generally rougher on gear.

Other than the USA and Canada, what country has the most open canoes?

I'm gonna go with Brazil due to the large number of indigenous boats. But thats just spitballing.

Canoe odyssey just begun from NW-most to SE-most points in USA

Geez, who pissed in your wheaties? Thats two back-to-back threads I have read with your replies showing a distinct lack of decorum. The old men yelling at clouds meeting is elsewhere.
