If it were me, I would not use polyester nor vinylester resin. I'd use epoxy resin. And no need to cover the entire hull in several coats...I would clean the hull thoroughly with, uhmm, acetone maybe, then squeegee on epoxy resin in only those spots that are showing the substrate fabric. Recoat...
