    Badger Paddles, two thumbs up.

I bought the Badger Woodland paddle in cherry about a year ago. I absolutely love it!! I was a beavertail paddler for many years before that. Beaver tail paddles are great for versatility, working equally well in deep and shallow water, but after 40 years of paddling my shoulders needed...

    Binoculars.

I have never liked weight hanging from my neck, so for most of my life my binoculars saw little use. Once I bought a harness I began to take them with me nearly everytime I go canoeing, hiking, snowshoeing, rowing etc... The harness distributes the weight nicely and they're always close at hand.

    Mississippi Speed Record

We had the opportunity to watch them go under a couple of bridges near our house on Wednesday, their first day, they're really cruising along. I don't think I'd ever want to travel this way, but I'm fascinated watching their progress online. I hope they can keep it up all the way to the Gulf of...

Advice on severely long boat lead time.

We ordered a new Northstar early January, the boat is ready for me to pick up now. The folks at Northstar were just a phone call away when I had questions regarding build options before placing the order. I ordered through a dealer, they were also very nice to deal with. Part of my decision to...

    Ambient Temperature for Repairs

I store the epoxy in the house and bring it out when I'm ready to mix it,thay way I'm using warm epoxy. The clip lights work great, plus you can use tarps to minimize the area you need to heat.

    Ambient Temperature for Repairs

What brand of epoxy, and which hardener? The epoxies I've worked with, West system and System Three, have different hardener options that work in different temperatures

What was the worst canoe you ever owned or paddled?

1973 Corecraft canoe. A chopped fiberglass canoe made in my hometown of Bemidji Minnesota. Even when I was young and strong it was all I could do to carry it, it must have weighed nearly 100 lbs. I was the most awful thing I ever loved. It was given to me in the late eighties, I paddled it...

What was the first river you ever paddled?

My first was the Schoolcraft River, a tributary to the Mississippi here in Northern Minnesota. I first paddled it in about 1989, and have paddled some part of it almost every year since then. It was also the river I first tried canoe poling on a couple of years ago.

Review of Bell / Northstar Seliga Tripper

Thanks for taking the time to write a thorough review, I found it very helpful.

Northstar or Bell Seliga- Does anyone have experience with one?

Congratulations, it looks great! My wife and I are thinking about replacing our old Bell Northwind with a Northstar Seliga. My only concern has been my wish to occasionally use it solo for day trips. I'd love to hear how it works for you when you use it solo.
