Is Nova Craft's PAL sill relevant or just a nostalgic boat?

I know of at least one couple (search Youtube) that does serious tripping with their's. I tried one but found the freeboard a bit disconcerting.

First stripper build: Prospector-16 Help & comments appreciated

I really wish I had taken pictures of my first build when I tried to pop it free of the forms and broke it.

Poll: What is Your Current Preferred Method of Water Filtration/Purification?

I had a bad experience with a BeFree - premature clogging. I screwed on my backup and it clogged in short order, too. Now I have a Katadyn Pocket. It's heavy, but built like a tank, field strippable, and easy to clean. Recently we arrived on our "rest lake" - 2 nights without breaking camp. As...

    Paddle sizing revisited.

I just got back from a trip with a new boat. I think the seat might be a bit high as I developed a hitch in my offside kidney/hip area. I think I was hunched over. This is to say that the boat you are paddling may also matter.

Posting Pictures: Uploading Preferred vs. Linking to Third Party Photo Sites

Here's the thing - and I'll preface this by saying that I will hold no ill-will if you decide my post should be deleted. They're MY photos. I've been a member of discussion forums long enough to have experienced a change of ownership whose philosophies "go against the grain," so to speak. I may...

    Float Plane Stories

One summer fishing trip I decided to bring my 7-month old GSP (Stradivarius Willhelm - Willy) with me to put him on to some inexperienced and slow ruffed grouse. I'm in the back seat with him on a leash and he had a very strong desire to sniff the back of the pilot's head. The thought of the...

    Float Plane Stories

I have a few, but one trip sticks out... We were closing the hunting camp for the year and had to pack all of the canned goods as well as load a cow and bull moose into a DHC-2. Two trips would be necessary and it was decided that the lightest person would accompany the 2 carcasses as well as...

First stripper build: Prospector-16 Help & comments appreciated

I hope I'm not being annoying interjecting my little snippets here - by no means do I have the experience as some of the others... For seat height, I take one of my shoes and make sure it can pass freely beneath - a matter of safety / avoiding hang ups.

I pained over that - information overload. I found it best to save that until the boat is fully outfitted then find the balance point and use that for the basis of your calculations. I have a 2" steel pipe from who knows where and I lay it on the floor and sit the hull on it - moving it fore and...

What was the first river you ever paddled?

I don't remember how old I was - probably 10 or 12. We had a cottage in St Zenon, QC and the neighbour's son and I took his canoe out for a few hours on La Riviere Noire. No that one - I'd guess there about 50 rivers in QC that go by that name. Later, when I was 14, another friend and I took his...

Electrical device you are most likely and least likely to eliminate

Just a thought - a functioning flashlight is part of Transport Canada's legal requirements, along with a whistle, floating rope, and hard-sided bailing bucket.
