    XY Paddles

Thanks, but I am looking for specific feedback on XY paddles.

    XY Paddles

My primary paddle is a ZRE Power Surge, and I really like it. That said, I am looking for a straight shaft to use as my backup, and I do miss the feel of wood in my hands. Curious if anyone here has any experience with XY Paddles. They are beautiful pieces, but I do not know anyone who uses one...

    Scored a new pan

Yes, the slide has begun! I found a 10" pan on Etsy and ordered it...in the meantime, I will use the Hobbit sized one tomorrow morning with egg/bacon on a twig stove I recently purchased. I. Love. Gear.

    Scored a new pan

The pan arrived today. Tiny! Measures 11.5 inches from end of handle across the opposite rim edge, 6 inches across the rim and 4.5 inches across the actual cooking surface. Weighs in at 185 grams. Pretty small; not sure I would bring this on a trip, even a solo. That means I just need to look...

    Scored a new pan

Ha! Yeah, I can only imagine. I also use cast iron (nice looking set, btw!!) at home, and on partner/group paddling trips as well. When I solo, I pretty much only eat freeze dried or stuff that I have dehydrated, so all I need is a small pot to boil water.

    Scored a new pan

I have never heard of these pans before. Found a 6" one that I should receive by the end of the week. Always look forward to new toys!

    Greetings!

Erica, My St. Croix plans are on hold. Checked out the river this past Sunday, and most of the area I planned to paddle was still frozen. It is snowing in the Twin Cities again now, and we are supposed to get another 7 inches or so in the next 24 hours. I am a teacher, and my spring break...

    Most recent tripping kit subtraction?

Interesting idea. I always bring fishing gear, but there are plenty of times I do not use much of it, and on some trips, I do not use it at all. Maybe I will give the ice fishing rod a whirl on my early June trip this year. Thanks for the thought!

A Must watch, for anyone that has stepped outside, and into the Bush

When I read the title of this post-here and on another site-I literally thought it was a post about a watch, as in a timepiece, and was not interested. Glad I checked it out!

    Most recent tripping kit subtraction?

On solos I no longer take a tent and tarp. Last year I found a used CCS Lean Plus 1, and it rocks! I also no longer bring an axe as it was just something I really never used.

    CCS Lean 2 Shelter

I have a Lean 1 and used it last year for the first time. First trip was a Hunter's Island solo, and I loved it! Nice weight savings for me as I did not need to pack tarp, tent and small bug shelter. Big space, and my worries about getting wet without a sewn in floor were put to rest on that...

    Greetings!

New to this site, and excited to be here. Primarily a solo paddler these days, although I still get out on occasion with one of my daughters and my wife. Live in Minnesota and am looking forward to my first paddle of the season this weekend on the St. Croix!
