I own a Swift Prospector 14 Pack. Quite stable. I don't do any white water. Adirondack streams around me, Osewegatchie, similar. Huge capacity: last year 2 large packs, a not very compact chair, a small pac, and a cooler. (NFCT work weekend) If you're up my way, I'd be pleased to let you try it.

I see Mountainman has announced Paddle fest 2025. May 16 to 18 in Old Forge. Might just go down, find someplace to camp, and look at gear.

Where's your solo? I prefer my Tranquility in BWCA - mostly lakes and some big - and Swift Prospector in ADK streams and small waters. I'm doing a stretch of NFCT from Saranac to Eight between work weekends and it seems more like broad flat water, so thinking Tranq.

There's usually been 2 or 3 sessions.a year on inclusivity. I've thought they were pretty good. Chicago Adventure Therapy has presented several times. Good stuff. I support them.

Agree feels undersized, since most 3 person canoes are 18-6 to 29-6. I see lots of people asking about 3 person canoes. The BWCA 9 limit I believe was as a result of the Scouts lobbying for it. I think the original Wilderness legislation or plan was for less - maybe 6. Scouts do 9 people 3...

Canoer because I like the camping but have begun to think having a kayak for some day trips in rocky Adirondack streams would make sense. One that can take a beating.

I have a Swift Prospector 14 Pack, also on the side side, and no problem with double blade. Helps I'm 6-1. The beefy kevlar layups are tough, but they'll never be as tough as Royalex or T-Formax. I could never be comfortable dragging a heavily loaded kevlar canoe over rocks. I'd feel compelled...

Perhaps I've lost track but during BWCAW fire bans, a stove has to have a valve so it can be turned off. Stick stoves, Kelly kettles, etc. not allowed. Some question if alcohol stoves that just have a cap are even permitted in a fire ban.

I've usually shared a 3 person tent with another. Often one of my sons, but a few times with clients I've invited. Shared tent with other adult leader at Philmont. Just seems like logical weight savings and leaves less trace.
