    Painting a wood strip canoe???

Has anybody painted their stripper? how did it come out? what did you use? Thinking about painting the exterior of a strip built racing boat, keeping the interior wood finish though. Opinions, advice, information? Boat is currently just epoxy coated, no varnish. Thanks John R.

    Ordering epoxy during cold weather

OK guys just wondering here, with the weather getting colder and temp dipping below freezing over a large part of the country - is it safe to order epoxy? Do freezing temperatures affect epoxy? Chances are it'll sit in cold weather somewhere between the shipper and my shop. Started a strip canoe...

    Sawyer 17' 9" Cruiser

Nice find stripperguy. I scored a great deal on an old Sawyer cruiser last fall myself. Needs some repairs and I'm researching those now. From every thing I've heard these are great canoes, great tripping boats. My plan is to use this boat for my ride in a 340 mile marathon that I...

Are there problems with this approach that I am not seeing? biggest problem I can see is the pin being of pretty small diameter or maybe grit or sand clogging the hinge and causing it to freeze...

    DIY Canoe Rudder

Hard to tell about the exact position from the pictures, different shots look different. Do you recommend keeping the bottom of the rudder blade even with the bottom of the keel or does it extend below the keel line? Does it make any difference? Guess if it was below the bottom of the boat...

    DIY Canoe Rudder

This is a great thread, very informative and excellent information. Just what I've been looking for. Building this rudder will be one of my winter projects. Are there any problems with the rudder being pushed up by the water flow since there is nothing but gravity holding it down? Seems like...
