    Quick aluminum gunnel repair?

Job weld is good stuff! My 28500BTU air conditioner lost a fan mount, I cleaned up the rust and used it to hold the two pieces together... still holding strong 8 or so years later. with that said I would try JB weld and if it don't hold, you're not really out anything. Make sure.... it's...

    Should I use a primer?

I'm not a pro, but a guy I regularly do some work with who is a union painter tints his primer the same as, or close, to the color of the paint. Granted we ain't painting boats, but paint is paint... right? (Sort of) anyways, if you're painting over old paint, the sanding should be...

    Tarp for Hennessey Hammock?

Mike, this system has worked well for me in the ADK.. Main ridge line - continuous- 2.2mm zing it, 30' 4 side tieouts- yellow braided Mason line, 8' each. I am trading out the Mason line for some 1.7mm zingit as soon as I get around to buying it. I like the waxy no tangleness of that...

    Tarp for Hennessey Hammock?

Oh, BTW, I agree with yknpdlr, I have used the asym standard tarp and stayed dry, heavy heavy t storm with marble sized hail at Lows lake, site selection is KEY... stayed high and dry, I was pitched over a pretty good slope, the wind didn't come in on me too bad and the slope and heavy forest...

    Tarp for Hennessey Hammock?

Yup, Noah 9 is too small, I have used the Noah 12 pitched square with success, just a little harder to get a tight pitch that way though... but it works. I have the 1.9oz Hennessey hex. Works great Jason

Looks very nice! The plastic cane is better for actual use anyway, most people would never know the difference unless you told them! Jason

Silicone & Mineral Spirits Mix as Seam Sealer

I bet the savings is much much more! Compare the consistency of your 50/50 mix to the store bought stuff... You would have to thin it down alot more to make an accurate comparison! Jason

Silicone & Mineral Spirits Mix as Seam Sealer

Yup, good stuff... I converted a wally world 13x9 screen tent into my camp kitchen shelter last year. The top isn't (wasnt) waterproof. After I cut all the hard plastic pole supports off and sewed in a Cliff Jacobson style center pole tie loop ,with external tie loop, I painted the whole top...

    Canoe construction material question.

Others know much more than I do here but for what it's worth, I don't think that it will make much difference as far as the actual strength goes as the wood only serves as an "i" in the I-beam and the glass gives you the strength. The real difference will be cost, weight, and "workability."...
