The reason why urban wildlife is increasing (humor)

They are easier to catch. Now that the crops are out, I worry that my new dog may run impulsively into the field at night only to find a pack of coyotes waiting.

    late October solo

It looks to me to be two grooves in the rock and may very well be from Iron rimmed wagon wheels.

Husqvarna, the parent company of Poulan, sells a little chain sharpening guide that I have gotten quite used to. They offer the same thing on the Poulan Pro website, here: http://www.poulanpro.com/us/parts-accessories/chainsaw-tools/file-kit/581562002/ I believe that there are different models...

    Powdered peanut butter...

I use peanut butter powder regularly, but always as an ingredient. I have never seriously considered trying to reconstitute it.

    Speaking of peanut butter...

Powdered peanut butter is a byproduct of making peanut oil. Most of it was probably landfilled or put in animal feed until some marketer figured out that you could make people think that it was something special.

    Powdered peanut butter...

I use peanut butter powder as a protein source, usually in my hot cereal. It's a lot less costly in No. 10 cans from people like Honeyville Farms, in the US. I usually carry some peanut butter singles for snacks.

    Sierra Trading Post

Same story here. Used to get some good deals and bought a lot from them years ago. Now, the deals aren't there and they don't have what I'm looking for. It's too hard to wade through all of the stuff that they have in the hope that they might have something that I want.

    Repare tape...

I've seen the T-Rex tape, but not tried it. I have used Gorilla tape, and still do, but the adhesive dries out with age and the tape comes off. The best results that I have had with a "Duct" tape have been with Scotch clear duct tape. The clear T-Rex tape may be similar. The adhesive on most...

    Coffee Press

I've got a Thermos/Nissan insulated coffee press that I used to use quite a bit. These days I have a Jetboil coffee press that I carry. It doesn't keep the coffee warm for long, but it's one less thing to carry. I can make coffee a number of different ways, but the Jetboil is fast and convenient.

    Go Pro

Yes, UHS-1 or Class 10 is what GoPro currently specifies for their cameras. The UHS-1 cards have a U with the numeral 1 in it and the Class 10 cards have a C with the number 10 in it. It is not always easy to tell what the speed of the cards are.

    Go Pro

The GoPros and other video cameras need fast SD cards. I don't remember the specs, but I bought several 16G cards for mine. The fast cards will work in other cameras. I can't speak to the other issues.

Shop Tools Pet Peeves (a mini-rant)

I have a Makita 4-1/2" angle grinder in a plastic case. The cord just wads up and would fit in the case OK, but the original grinding wheel nut wrench broke and the generic replacement wrench won't fit with the cord in the case. Even so, I use the case. I just have to keep my grinder nuts and...

You will note that they are using the camera tripod mount adapter to mount the GoPro to the spring clamp.

3rd party hosting photo site suggestions?

I have been using pbase.com for a number of years. My annual fee has been $23.00. Considering what has been going on with photobucket, either they have made a mistake or they are setting the new trend. In some ways, it's no surprise considering that Photoshop and Microsoft Office have gone to a...

    Go Pro

You will probably want the adapter to mount the GoPro to a camera tripod. Once you have this, you can improvise other mounts. Wherever possible, I would also use a tether in case the mount comes undone. There are stick on mounts that you can put on most anything, but I agree that the handlebar...

    Best bow tie-down rope?

I've been using doubled 5mm accessory cord and have no reason to change, but, I have some 5/32" dyneema whoopie slings that I might try and see how they work.

    Pain relief

One Naproxen Sodium in the morning mainly for hip pain. It seems to make some difference, but not much. It's what my doctor recommends. I've taken Ibuprofen, but can't say that either makes much difference, I'm certainly not pain free. For me, balancing activity and rest seems to do the most...

    Canoe mini-repair kit

I've seen Flextape in stores, but never looked closely at it. I suspect that it is a synthetic rubber tape similar to membrane roofing. It might be useful for patching holes, but I worry about getting it off to make more permanent repairs. I've had problems with the adhesive on Gorilla tape...

    Riding Mower Way OT

Theoretically, my mower deck detaches easily, but in practice, it's way easier to jack it up to change blades. It needs to be high enough to get an impact wrench under the blades to loosen them.
