    WinterCampingsymposium forum closed?

That’s funny Mem. A friend of mine uses that same phrase. Clemency, I hope to attend that one year or somewhere closer here in the East coast but I was just looking for the old forum that Snapper mentioned. I like Glen’s idea.

    WinterCampingsymposium forum closed?

As the title asks? seems like there isn't a forum to sign back on? I liked that site, especially after Wintertrekking stopped. I don't really want to go on Facebook but maybe that's cost effective these days. Anyone know?

Canoe Art: Paintings, Sketches, Sculpture, Architecture

Not exactly related to this thread but last night I was flicking on the tv and saw a 1972 old fashioned horror movie called “Frogs”. Sam Elliott and Joan Van Arc were trying to escape and were paddling a wood canvas red canoe around 17’ I thought about what movies that had canoes in them...

Canoe Art: Paintings, Sketches, Sculpture, Architecture

Top one looks like scouts in lean to winter camping with what looks like a square back canoe Middle one was given to me, up in Syracuse NY. Seems like others have it also that I saw on this thread. Bottom one, given to me by my 4 th grade student about 6-7 years ago BEFORE I had my green...

    Hudson Valley/Capital District gathering

As of now Oct 15 or 29 weekend is good for me. That reservoir is a bit to far being app 5 hours away. But I believe camping is closed after Columbus weekend at Lake T. Will follow this also.

    Hudson Valley/Capital District gathering

Restarting this idea. Maybe a mid October weekend before Taghkanic state park closes. I am going with the AMC fall foliage ADK Oct 7-10 so I can’t make it that weekend.

    ALPS Mountaineering Tent

Water tested! Rained app 2” other night when camped out on Second Roach in Maine with Robin. I had a few spoonfuls of water. Probably from black tag with grommet that the cross pole goes into. Could use a little seam sealing. I give it an A!

Couldn't Resist: 15' B.N. Morris Customized Reproduction by Rollin Thurlow in As-New Condition

Beauty, I try to stay off Craig’s list these day for the good reason of seeing something that “I want” and don’t need. Plus I’m relocating soon probably out west and not to sure about paddling locations. Enjoy. Maybe you can show it off at a gathering in NY soon. Enjoy paddling.

    Maine somewhere.

Man, thought I’d make it into the “Star” magazine after seeing a UFO in Maine’s North Woods. Sadly it was Elon Musk Starlink. But I did see cool glowing insects by the water. Thought we would name it “Rob-vid”. Found out it was firefly larvae. Just a few extra fun things on the trip. Pic of...

BIG thank you to Mr and Mrs Robin for putting me up for the night and a delicious dinner with a surprise spicy sausage thrown in with the meatballs and spaghetti. Plus a BIG thank you to Mr and Mrs Boatman53 (Jim) for putting me up also for the evening. I had real lobster and clam chowda...

    Maine somewhere.

I’m sitting on the ferry crossing over the Long Island Sound after a long drive in some pouring rain looking at Robin’s pictures just reading. It was a great trip that I waited over a year to go on and it was wonderful. As Robin drove my head was turning sideways just looking all around at...

    Tent Pole Problems x 2

Fritz, I’ve been trying to buy that “ unicorn “ tent for a while. Light weight is delicate and costly as you’ve probably seen already. So I picked up a lightweight Big Agnes tent for my portage trips ( few these days). I picked up an Alps 3 person from REI for those base camp trips. Think...

Did she really forget it or mentioned it in your sleep 2 days later? The penalty for that is a double present. We will certainly talk to you the day before. I’ll call. I’ll also leave some bagel crumbs in the water for a trail! Dr #1 done today. Next Dr on Monday and away I go!
