    New Hemlock Peregrine owner

thanks, it's sitting now waiting to go out and play. That was the plan, I'm buying toys now knowing that once I retire from teaching June 2024 then the fun will begin.

    New Hemlock Peregrine owner

Hi Glenn, I can't kneel, to much pressure on them. I do what to get a straight single blade that is the correct length and not use the ones that came with the canoes that I purchased over the years. I read a lot about measuring oneself but I believe the best way is to bring the boat someplace...

    New Hemlock Peregrine owner

Haha, thanks Robin, yea I really tricked you when Ray and I went backwards down that "sketchy" section. It was all planned, but you were smart asking for payment before I added all of those scratches. I even didn't shave for a week when I went to pick up the new boat. In my past life I was...

    New Hemlock Peregrine owner

I went up last week to Dave’s shop and traded my Placid Rapidfire and cash for a sweet Hemlock Peregrine. I loved my Rapidfire and it served me very well for many years. Due to more knee issues I felt that a dedicated canoe would be best. Took the Peregrine out this past weekend up in the...

    Old Gear Still Using

Just bought this from a nice guy. He is selling an American Trader canoe/row boat and I saw the pack basket in the picture. I was able to buy the basket. he bought it up in the ADK near Speculator many years ago. It will go in the Chum on trips and keep the tradition going.

Changed Mind About Selling Chestnut Chum

Hi Glenn, that’s perfectly fine. It was a tough 48 hours mentally and physically (knee replacement). Big thanks to friends ( Boatman53, Robin, Snapper) just listening to me rant and even explain the calendar next 2 years. Yes Glenn it’s a Chum. JohnSand sounds great. Just even to sit on...

Changed Mind About Selling Chestnut Chum

Mid 1960’s Totally Restored about 5 years ago by Jim in CT at Schuyler Thomson’s shop . Few planks were added. Plus end caps. I probably have a thread on the site somewhere. What can I say about it? Wonderful to paddle solo, last trip was with Robin up in Maine. Just had my knee replaced...

Who sleeps on the the newer light cots?

I bought one of those Byer of Maine small light weight cots but it sits up only app 8” off the ground. I like it BUT my knees don’t like trying to get up from it. Truthfully I have to roll over off the cot onto my knees and get up. Nice product but bad match for this consumer. Just like...

    New Guy, Long Island

Welcome, I’m in Plainview originally a Queens boy. Got into paddling after having knee issues hiking Catskills and other NE peaks. Have a few tandems, Placid Rapidfire and a Chestnut Chum that was restored a few years ago. Maybe next spring we can get together out east.

    Yet Another Upstate NY'er

Twins! I bought mine from a nice guy in CT, Robin! First time I took it out with Waterspyder we got a great view of the river going backwards! Yep, that sucker spun around and Robin watched us float away downstream backwards. Of course he got paid BEFORE I tested it out. Giving it to our...

    WinterCampingsymposium forum closed?

Thanks YC, I did remember a site that was in Vermont years ago but I always thought about it after Thanksgiving and would miss it. I’m trying to squeeze in an early winter trip before having a total knee replacement AGAIN 😩. Got me a recall a few months ago. Yep, seems a few hundred...
