Headless baby doll with the big toes sliced off. Found this behind Cat Island in the Wheeler Marsh of the Housatonic. It is the second headless baby doll that I've found in that area. Pretty sure there's a cult.

Anyone can climb back onto a paddleboard. Very few people know how to deal with a capsized canoe.

In the past (I think from a ACA table), canoe drownings were mostly rental canoes with customers not wearing pfds, which lines up with the article Glenn posted. Lack of experience figures big.

Nice vest for whitewater rafting. Probably not very comfortable for canoeing. I'd look for low profile pfds.

It makes no difference if you're not going to wear it.
