    Snowdrift River, Northwest Territories (2001)

Thanks for posting this Michael! It's been a challenge for me as I've been reading the same story in your book at the same time but this post has many more pictures! ;) I've been enjoying both! Doug

Rick, I edited the link so all you have to do is click on it. Sounds like you are enjoying this build so far! I'll be interested to see how it goes! Doug

    Glueing Fabric to Vinyl

Pictures aren't showing Chip. Interesting experiment! I'm going to keep an eye on this.

    Light Weight Solo Tripper Build

Well, that's it! I'm giving up working on boats after reading/following this build and tell myself a plastic Dick's boat is good enough for me! This is an amazing build and thank you for all the detailed descriptions and pictures you've posted! dougd

Help ID this Mad River ASAP

I fixed one with a lot of damage and planned on keeping it but after I paddled it for the first time I gave it back to my friend. Being made of the RX lite the bottom flexed with every paddle stroke. Here's the write up of it...

    2020 St. John River Trip

I think there was a sentence or two at the end that made this special. You said at the end of the video: "Ultimately doing it with my father," a pause, "The ultimate!" I think that says it all! Thanks for sharing and I had some fond memories of my trip down the St. John a few years ago!

    Gunnels and Screws

I am old school and do screws for gunwales. As stated by many to each their own methods. For me this works best and having stored my boats inside for years now they have held up well. I am currently rebuilding a MR Malecite that the gunwales after almost 20 years needed attention. As also...

    How hard to fix this?

Mr. Gumpus, I would jump all over that if I lived closer. I have one and I love the hell out of it. That damage is easily fixed and being such a stable hull it is a joy to paddle. Mine is only 35 pds and is not the the black "gold"? but it is the lightest boat I own so it my go to boat. Word...

    Picked up an Arrow Mirage

I really like that emblem on the bow! Hard to tell but it looks like either a bear or...a pig! Regardless, it's pretty cool.

SG, I seem to remember a post about that a long while back. I thought pretty epic at the time!

    Fiberglassing Out Doors

Years ago I built the famous 6 hour canoe, OK, more like 60 hours. I left the garage door open while I slathered epoxy on the inside only to have a kick arse wind blow a pile of dried leaves into the garage and fill the now fresh epoxy inside of the boat with broken up leaves. Yeah, they lived...

Cliff Jacobson: NO to skid plates!

I agree with Alan Glenn. I too use a thin layer of Dynel which is treated with G-Flex and West System resin, barely visible when treated with Peel Ply. You keep talking about skid plates but often refer to the old school Kevlar Fat crap stuff. That is not the norm these days in many schools...

Poll: What percent of the time do you use a double blade paddle solo?

OK folks, time for a chill pill. Bottom line is we each paddle what works the best for us, some like the DB some don't and like the oil on the gunwales vs varnish debate(s) no one is going to agree with everyone else, it's really that easy! I don't want to see things going south on this thread...

    Not another canoe build

Considering how this post is going I'm going to lock it down. My apologies to you Traveler for having your post high-jacked and now frozen out as it never should have happened but I do invite you to finish your tale and build. This is not the way I wanted ANY post to end up with us trying to...

    Not another canoe build

Robin, I am not familiar with the posts you are talking about but have no doubt, I wasn't on the radar at that time. Like you I do the same message in the vetting process although I changed it little for the fact that as you well know people don't respond and that clogs the works on the back...

    Not another canoe build

Well, it was with some surprise this morning reading the responses! During these difficult days I just don't think one thread about a kayak build is going to break the board, hell, there have been posts here about decked canoes, basically a kayak! There have been posts here about things not...
