La Verendrye- fulfilling a boyhood dream

Thank you Robin- I am sorry to disappoint- but that canvas pack was purchased by me from a fellow online for a very reasonable price. I have a penchant for the traditional and love Frost River and Duluth packs but price is a concern. The patches you see on the pack were put there by your’s...

La Verendrye- fulfilling a boyhood dream

A little different- you must call and reserve within a window. Our route (37) was limited to 5 groups. Oddly everyone ends up at one of two campsites at the last evening. There were only 4 groups on our circuit. We only ran into one group. We stopped at the site just before the final site...

As I am new to the site… I wanted to express my thanks for everyone’s input over the past months both in my endeavor to restore my ol’ Yankee and to successfully complete my first canoe camping trip that I have dreamed of for 40 years since I was eight years old. A close family member and...

Used vs new - price and value

Not sure where you are located… but Hemlock does weekly demo in Canandaigua… and some monthly ones as well. They are listed on their website. I did one of the demo evenings… great folks… fun to try the different designs. SRT is nice as well as the Eaglet.

7 days solo in northern Quebec

Thank you… yes we are doing loop 37… starting at Camatose… about 70ish km. 6 portages… only one lengthy one. Wish I was able to bring the Old Town… hopefully soon. We are using a generic 16’ Prospector. I apologize up front…but I may be peppering you all with more questions as the launch...

7 days solo in northern Quebec

Hi Robin- I enjoyed these posts … and the YouTube video as well. As I am leaving for QC in about two weeks… are there any issues bringing my axe, saw and folding knife across the border? Thank you Drew
