    I use the orange fiberglass driveway markers on my wood splitter. I placed them so you can see them in the side mirrors without them you can’t see anything until it Jack knife’!

    Didn’t try making it up to Poland Pond. The climb was steep, but if you take your time well worth the effort.

    FYI not sure which way you’ll travel. Route 6/15 between Jackman and Rockwood is closed due to heavy rain washing out a section of road causing a 143 mile detour.

    The thwarts are solid no rot.

    Googled the # on the plate it’s a Simpson strong tie plate that someone had to have had bent to go around the thwart.

    They certainly looked like a factory installed plate. I did reach out to Old Town and they said they never used plates on the thwarts.

    I picked up a used Old Town Discovery 164 it has these support plates on the ends of the thwart and carry yoke. I’ve never seen them on an Old Town canoe any else? They look like they were factory installed. thanks ruttrowe
