    Best bow tie-down rope?

I use those nylon loops too. Do you tie a separate line to each of the hood loops? I always used to run a single continuous line from one loop, up to the carry handle of the bow, and then back down to the second loop. Last trip, though, I decided to use two separate pieces of rope from the...

    Best bow tie-down rope?

What do you use to tie the bow to the front end of your vehicle? I can't seem to find any rope that won't stretch out while I am driving if there is a stiff cross wind. Should I just use cam straps instead? I've always avoided them for the bow tie-downs, because I thought they would interfere...

Advice needed: packs for 2-3 nights in black bear country

Absolutely. Outside of bear cannisters, everything else is just mitigating risk. For me, it's about finding the right balance of cost, convenience, and practicality for the environment. Black bears are present just about everywhere I camp, but very very rarely show themselves or create a...

Advice needed: packs for 2-3 nights in black bear country

An alternative to barrels and bear vaults is a 5 gallon bucket with a gamma seal lid. You can pick up the lids for under $10 at places like Home Depot, and they fit any standard 5-7 gallon plastic bucket, which should be plenty of space for 2-3 days worth of food on a solo trip. They are cheap...

    Need a ADK Outhouse

It would be an extra item of gear, but they could consider using something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KPSDEQI?psc=1 Folds up pretty small.

    Pain relief

I've got bad discs, as well - 2 lower back and one in my neck - and I haven't found anything that helps with that except epidural steroid injections and months of physical therapy.

    Pain relief

I take 800 mg* of Ibuprofen occasionally, for joint and/or muscle pain. If I know I'll be doing something likely to make me sore, I sometimes take it before the activity. (*200 mg is the regular, OTC dosage, but 800 is what my doctor has recommended for me based on my size.)

    Square Barrels VS Round Barrels

I'm no engineer, but wouldn't a round barrel provide more structural strength than a square barrel of the same material?

    OT Canadienne 17

Temptation! I can't really afford to buy a canoe I don't need, even at $900 Maybe I should buy this one and then sell my Sundowner 18. I think if this was a 16' Canadienne I'd be even more tempted, but I assume the 17' wouldn't be great for solo paddling?

    OT Canadienne 17

Maybe a little pricey for a 27 year old canoe, but it looks immaculate. I really love the looks of the Canadienne. https://greenbay.craigslist.org/spo/6165886026.html

You can also get 500 ml and 1 liter "cartons" of wine, when you want a smaller amount.

Skid plate for a Royalex canoe

Decided to go the easy route, and just put some KeelEazy strips on each end. No idea how it will hold up over time, but I am hoping to sell the canoe this summer. Very easy to apply. The hardest part was removing the adhesive from the Gorilla Tape I had on there.

    Water, water everywhere ...

Good to know. Simple/trouble-free would be one of my main criteria.
