Silicone & Mineral Spirits Mix as Seam Sealer

I can't wait to try this out myself.

Scary and it could happen in a canoe around cottage country.

That's happened to me before, too - in broad daylight - and it's frustrating as hell ... particularly since it was in what was supposed to be a "no wake" area.

Tales of favorite canoeing or travelling vehicles

I'd have to say that my current vehicle - 2013 Subaru Outback - is by far the best vehicle I've ever had for canoe trips, family camping, road trips, etc. Before that, I've only ever owned sedans and small hatchbacks. By comparison, my Outback is very spacious. I like the higher clearance and...

Tales of favorite canoeing or travelling vehicles

My 1974 Doge Dart had a matching pair of those. Whenever the road was wet, the front tires would spray water all over the windshield. A couple layers of duct tape fixed the problem!

    More Knee Bumpers

Reminds me of a 2 week family road trip to Florida, with 8 people and a dog in our 1974 VW bus. Only 7 seats, so the 4 of us kids had to take turns sitting on the floor between the middle row seat and the sliding door. Would have been nice to have some padding for that!

    Futile Camp Chair Question

It's a little pricier, but I bet you'd like the REI Camp Xtra Chair. Much wider that the ALPS one, and more comfortable (but also bulkier when folded up).

    Futile Camp Chair Question

Yeah, those are definitely not chairs for traveling light! Another comfortable chair for larger folks (like me) is the REI Camp Xtra Chair. It is a bit lower to the ground than the ALPS chairs, but the seat and back are wider.

Funny, I thought the same thing when I saw the pics, but didn't bother to check the measurements. I love my Wilderness, but having a sliding seat like this would be a great addition.

    Reflective Tarp Line, in quantity?

This link is from the local/regional chain where I find it, but I'm sure it is sold other places as well: https://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/koch-industries-inc-diamond-braided-polypropylene-reflective-rope/0000000246739?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-8qRxJCX2wIVgsDACh0m9wCwEAQYASABEgJwB_D_BwE It's...

    Relatively inexpensive flat tarp?

Not rectangular, but I like the Kelty Noah's 16: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/kelty-noahs-16-tarp-shade-shelter-17kelunhstrp12ftxcat/17kelunhstrp12ftxcat?camp=CSE:DSG_pg71297_ecom_PLA_452&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlebNkfiM2wIVWbnACh2dJwhUEAYYAiABEgJjiPD_BwE

    The Joys of Drying Out

I know that feeling. Last year, I packed up wet and muddy gear on every.single.trip. I've been debating doing a solo trip this weekend, but now the chance of rain on Saturday night keeps creeping higher. :(

    Pool Noodle uses?

Sometimes I use a pool noodle to help load my canoe on top of the car ... open one of the front doors, place a slit section of pool noodle on the top edge of the door frame, prop one end of the canoe on that, and easily lift the other end onto the rack.

    Pool Noodle uses?

I have a section of one cut to fit over the aluminum thwart that is too close to the back of the seat in my Wenonah Wilderness ... I also use a piece to slip over the blade of my bow saw.

    Fund Raiser for Another Year

sent I don't post as much as some folks, and I'm a canoe tripping novice compared to most on this site, but I learn something new almost everyday by reading the threads here.

Why we live where we do?

I grew up in the Buffalo, NY metro area, went to college there and worked for another couple of years after college before moving to the Lexington, KY area for four years of grad school. Then I relocated to Columbus, OH for work for one year, and then made my way back to WNY (Niagara Falls...

    Beer!

    1) 12-16 oz beers is the most I can recall having in my canoe 2) Only one type of beer? This one is nearly impossible to answer - so many different beers for different seasons. If forced, though, to have only one beer to drink in any season for any occasion, then I would have to pick a...
