Ageless Priceless leaves me Speechless... Thank You Sweeper!!

Your post made me think of the "vintage" camping gear I inherited. When I was 13 years old, my father decided that we should camp on our way to Sudbury, Ont. From NJ. To that end, my father and I went out to buy camping gear. Morsan's, which has morphed into Campmor was the place we went to...

    Wool blanket size

Colman's is a great resource for quality goods and inexpensive. I've been buying gear from them for years. Wool gloves, socks, Goretex bivy (that was a steal) and one of my favorite pieces of gear, And loads of other stuff. Plan on visiting their warehouse this summer,

    Ice Out Predictions

Had an interesting view this past week. Flying back from London to NJ, and sitting on the right side of the plane, I was able to see, due to lack of cloud cover a good portion of Labrador/New Foundland, Maine, Vermont and points south to NJ. Ice out has not occurred until we flew over Southern...

    Hello from Poland

Welcome Dellos, my father was from Poznan and I visited there 42 years ago. Last year I visited Krakow and was amazed at how much Poland had changed, all for the better! Krakow is a beautiful city with friendly people and great food!

    Small Hand Tool Shop Storage?

Just came across this thread! I'll throw my 2 cents in. Peg boards, to me are not for tools. I typically put odd things on it, that would be hard to find if they were in boxes or drawers. Everything from unopened packages of screws, to bits of chain, rolls of string, big clamps that wont fit...

    Hello from NJ

I too am from NJ and have paddled Split Rock, probably hundred of times. The new dock is a welcome addition. But the carry from the parking lot and down the hill still sucks!

    Habits Breaking Camp?

I once left a camp chair behind, hung neatly on a tree in its bag. Two reasons I left it behind, first, leaving that day the wind was howling and I didn't want that piece of equipment strapped on my deck. I was paddling a kayak. The other reason was I found the chair to be immensely...

    Packing for a Glamping trip

Raystown it is! Wish I could make it, but have plans. I've always taken my 45 year old canvas Sears Ted Williams tent, 45 year old Coleman stove and Colman lamp of the same vintage. Glamping is appropriate there, hell, they even have warm showers.

    Annual Gentleman's Trip

Mike, 18 pack fits between my foot pegs! My boat was loaded as well, and several times coming off the wave the boat broached and the waves slapped against me from the side. Took a great deal of effort to turn down wind again. Had the boat been empty, I could've easily turned her.

    Annual Gentleman's Trip

As one of the attendees, I have to put this out there! I thoroughly enjoyed the high winds we experienced. Head winds are a challenge, but with the right boat and paddler, doable! The downwind runs were great, hit speeds beyond 8 mph many times. Foundered a few times due to a loaded boat...

    poling/punting in Cambridge

I've been to Cambridge several times. Poling they do there is on punts, wide flat bottomed vessels and primarily for tourists. River they punt on is slow moving and murky, but the view from the river is great. Cambridge is a university town, with old buildings and a vibrant main square.

    Amazing day and great conditions

Last May I paddled Brady's Lake in PA. The lake was dead calm the entire 3 hours I was on the lake. I put in from the south and paddled North, My view of the North was all overcast and foreboding, on my return trip the sky cleared. Took over 200 photos that day, Here is a sample.
