A Nomad in our future? Just curious.

Yes, just curious. Does anyone know if the Nomad mold or plug is still dormant somewhere (Colden) or has someone move it to a new location hoping to bring it back to life. Gerald

    LaVerendrye-circuit 77-First solo Canadian Trip

Love reading your TRs Robin. Makes me feel like heading back up there. Drank the water directly from the lakes again this past September. Wonderful and safe place to travel as we head up the age scale. Every time I go there, I think we should have another solo gathering before we all pack it in...

    Tripwire campsite warning devices

Saw this on social media this morning. Heard of people using pots, pans and string to enclose their campsite, now there is an easier way for them to feel secure at night. G.

    Multi pocket canoe packs

Alan: That BUSHCRAFTER pack looks like something I could use. How high does it carry on your shoulders? Does it interfere with portaging a canoe? Gerald

    Multi pocket canoe packs

Waterdog: That's an interesting Link. It's something like their tactical packs that I had in mind. Thanks. Scratchypants: That is something to consider. Thanks. G.

    Multi pocket canoe packs

Thanks all. YC= Had a look but could not find a split pack. BV = Thanks for the heads-up on the barrel organizers. That may be the way to go. PC = Good luck with "holster" project. Good idea. Scouter = Yep, that's what I use now, but I feel scattered. G.

    Multi pocket canoe packs

The thing I detest the most about portaging is not the walk, nor carrying the canoe (though age has me looking for much lighter gear and boat) but the lack of storage pockets for items that have to be at hand like camera, toilet paper, rain gear and an extra jacket. I now like to double portage...

7 days solo in northern Quebec

Yep, sandy beaches are not great for camping. Very interesting trip report as usual. Leaving tomorrow for LV, so will catch up on your adventures when I get back. Thanks for sharing.

Discontinued canoe you wish was made again?

Modern composite Mad River Traveler in the low 30's in weight. It would be great for extended wilderness solo travel. G.

    Goin' Treeless

As others have mentioned, the answer is nope. I barely sleep at night when canoeing the barrens. While the others sleep I hike. So much to see, no place to hide. For me, it's the ultimate canoeing destination. Here's a few pics from the Horton River of fauna and flora not seen elsewhere but on...
