What is your favorite tree and why?

Ooops, forgot about mulberry…. Messy but sooo delicious when fruit is ripe!

What is your favorite tree and why?

This thread certainly shows the reverence man has for possibly the most useful plant! Great idea Glenn. Reminds me of my grandmother shelling big bowls of hickory nuts to put up for winter…and then baking her hickory nut cake served with real whipped cream…oh I DO wish I could eat that one more...

What is your favorite tree and why?

Live oak…elegance, strength, durability comes in second. Redwood/sequoia tops the list as there is just no equal to the awe and feeling they inspire while standing in a grove of them. In truth I love all trees.

Greetings, and a Bell layup question.

My WF occasionally functions as a recliner…note avatar pic 😆

Greetings, and a Bell layup question.

My Wildfire seat bolts were recessed a bit to much for my comfort at my weight so I also used cupped finish washers but did not fill the holes. Seems fine. You’ll love the Fire…one of the all time best 14 ft solos.

    Keels: Yeah or Nay?

Perhaps Benson will chime in but I have always understood that keels on w/c hulls were for protection not directional aid. Could there also be a structural strength component? The three I have had did not have keels…one was a redone OT and two were more modern Loon Works boats.

    Caesar’s Creek

As a former Buckeye might I venture an explanation….most rivers run with colored water. We’re used to water with substance and entirely distrust clear water’s ability to support a canoe.

Wenonah Solo Plus with big patches of gel coat missing.

Sort of agree with Glenn…I would have to REALLY want a solo plus design to undertake all the work and expense necessary to make that solid and aesthetically pleasing.

Music for the drive to, during, or the drive back from canoe trips?

Music was sooo much better in my adolescence than today….funny but that’s the same thing my father used to say about music from his adolescence in the 40’s….and he was right too! That big band stuff is awesome.

Music for the drive to, during, or the drive back from canoe trips?

Sirius for music 'cause it follows wherever you go...Bluegrass, Big Band, Chill, Watercolors, Bluesville, the Blend, used to enjoy local stations but as mentioned too much political screaming/idiocy now...used to be able to hear interesting info about towns you were passing but not so much today.

Ed's Contoured Seats in Yet Another 90's Era MR

In the past I have laid the old seat on top of the new one and the cut arms to match and drilled using the old seat holes as guides.

Padding on cross bars for canoe?

That’s why I use the tubing on the gunnels then there is no need to pad the crossbars

    Prospector in Whitewater/Ollie Sandeman Video

The kid is good! Love the jet ferry….one of my personal faves.

Padding on cross bars for canoe?

I always have a few pieces of tubing in my paddle gear bag in the van in case one gets lost but if you take them off the gunnels when you unload at the put in and leave them in the car you should have no problems.

Fun With MS Bing Image Creator AI

Interesting question: Glenn, if I wanted to use one of your AI created images in a newsletter would I ask you for permission or the computer.😉

    Missing a paddling year

Maybe you have some friends that can take you out just for day trips?….I know just being in the canoe would help me and hopefully you too. Best wishes…hang tight.

Blackhawk Shadow 13 Specs or Info?

I think you will find your Flashfire a much more inspiring canoe to paddle. It will more precisely reward nuanced strokes with a quicker response. Not to say you won’t enjoy the Shadow…I love most all small, dedicated solos (under 16’). Canoe personalities are just like people…there’s something...
