Salmon River Reservoir canoe camping

I was considering canoe camping at the NY Salmon River Reservoir, but I have heard some bad problems of leaving your car unintended and all night beer parties. Stuff like that I don't need and would like to hear anyone's opinion that has stayed there. Any information would be helpful.

Usually when I hear about unintended cars being broken into, the problem is real. Leave your car where someone can watch it, get dropped off or bring an old car that does not have nice rims on it.

I agree. I believe being so close to population you run a greater risk of all the wild all-night beer parties and boom boxes.
I was hoping for a place to go that wasn't so far away. It is nice for a quick weekend trip. At this point I've given up on it.

Unattended cars too. This is a real problem. In this part of the country Redding, CA has a large drug trade. People break into cars for a living. It happened to me at Lake Shasta. Anywhere on the Sacramento River cars need to be watched. I would never leave a car at a boat ramp.
