I’ve heard it called, rabbit starvation. When the body runs out of fat it starts consuming itself. Woodsmen and trappers suffered in the winter without sufficient fats. Read of on fellow that was known for using a large part of his winter flour making greasy donuts to keep him going.
Familiarity breeds contempt. Both wolves and black bears. I once heard a biologist say that you are just so much protein walking around. He was referring to black bears at the time but I can’t think wolves would be different.
Tradition. Old school was tent poles leaning against a tree and an enough firewood to make a fire. A bunch of birch bark stuffed in the bundle. I’ve welcomed the wood after a long hard day. Especially in rough weather.
Good new. I have used the grills for some time and they are solid. Last year I got a couple new ones and was sorry to hear that they were closing. I’ll have to try and support the new owner.
The forum was mentioned somewhere. Canoe tripping, the name brought me here. I guess, traditional canoeing and the old ways are what I like. I have found some good and interesting information on the forum.
I was a member for years and let it lapse, but renewed last year and intend to keep it up. The magazine format is really nice these days. Congratulations on the Board position.
