    Northern WI wolf attack

I think that makes the most sense...Tigers kill hundreds of people in India every year, as well....

I have seen those stats, too... You would think that the much larger North American wolf ( they get bigger the farther north you go: Bergman's Law) would behave in a similar manner, but they don't. Separate evolutionary branches over thousands of years?

a cautionary tale for sure...as is "The Three Little Pigs", and it's sequel "The Fourth Pig: The Reckoning".

    Northern WI wolf attack

A predictable result of re-introducing an apex predator, that has been absent for decades, into a "target rich" environment. A much too small habitat (they typically roam over hundreds of square miles), and a veritable all you can eat buffet of slow moving food...If I was a wolf, I wouldn't...

    Northern WI wolf attack

It is my understanding that wolves were extirpated from the lower 48 years ago because of farming( as in much of Canada), and that wolves today are imported from Canada.... I don't believe a word of this story...well, maybe "wolf" and "hunter", but the rest is rather suspect. A lack of...

Fears while paddling or on canoe trips

It is a very peculiar feeling when, as an apex predator yourself, another predator sizes you up.

Fears while paddling or on canoe trips

I have nowhere near the kind of deep bush experience as some of you....I am in awe, frankly. Growing up in Montreal,Quebec, I was lucky enough to be a few hours away from wilderness, and got over most irrational fears at a young age. When I had a family of my own, I more or less stopped going...

What polar bears think of kayaks

Pleading never works with the black bear. They respond much better to sarcasm.
