Milk River, Alberta - Del Bonita to Writing on Stone Provincial Park

it was tight and pushy. There were some corners that needed back ferries. Being loaded with 14 days of gear did not help. For reference, we paddle class 2/3 stuff (kootneay and smokey river) so thats our skill level, so was nbd. but if you only do lakes, you may be surprised. WE did it mid...

Milk River, Alberta - Del Bonita to Writing on Stone Provincial Park

Did this trip 7 years ago now. Started at whiskey gap and floated into the states just before the first dang. The part that no one gets to see around the border is amazing. You just need to call ahead and tell them you are entering and also call them the day of from a sat phone. We had a...

Things that interfere with or otherwise screw up canoe trips

Weather that is not beach weather. Will always cause someone to back out last minute leaving you with an odd numbers. There is always that one person in the group that is solar powered, who's level of fun that is possible to be had is directly correlated with how warm and sandy the campsite...

Do I really need a drysuit, or will a two peice do fine?

Kokatat drysuits are quality, I know. But honestly most of the time I am paddling I WOULD NOT want to be in my drysuit all day. Occasionally there are times I would want to put it on, but usually don't and hope I dont swim. If I did, it would be unpleasantly cold, but likely not dangerous...

Anyone Have a Esquif Prospecteur Sport?

IMO its the best canoe on the market for anything you could ever want to do. If you ever need to go in huge water, skirt it. It's fine for lakes. I have seen it go through class 3 water for days in skilled hands and then cruise on lakes. It's not slow, it just does everything well...
