I have a Tripper of similar vintage. There is concern with the white gunnels becoming brittle with sun exposure. Make sure to check them out. My canoe has seen a lot of sun and the gunnels are fine. The Tripper is a great stable family canoe.

Agree with @MrPoling. The wear on the ends is common, but the bent gunnels are concerning. The price would need to be very low. You are looking at most likely replacing the gunnels, recaning or webbing the seats and probably skid plates. I picked up a Penobscot 17 a few months ago as a project...

Using the bathroom scale method, this one weighs about 55 pounds.

A couple more pictures It looks like a 1983 model. It's not kevlar. Did they use Tuff-weave on these? The seller said he bought a couple of years ago from an older guy. He thinks he had it possibly since new and used it fir fishing. Someone glassed in some anchor points.
