The Rainbow-Debsconeag Wormhole

Maine canoeists should find it historically interesting.

Getting people to wild areas was a big business for the Maine railroads during that era so a lot of money was spent on books like these. They have been a great resource for my researching of early canoe builders through the advertisements there. Many of these books have been scanned so the following ones can be downloaded: Maine Central from 1898, Bangor and Aroostook from 1898, 1900 to 1910, and 1917. Similar content is available in the Sportsman's Gazetteer from 1877 and 1891 to 1893 along with Carleton's Pathfinder and Gazetteer from 1899. I have these all electronically indexed if anyone is looking for something in particular. They are very interesting reading.
