seat ideas?

Looking for ideas for a comfortable primitive seat for me faux birchbark solo canoe. A conventional rawhide laced seat is my top choice so far. Thanks,Turtle

Some of Bill Mason's canoes had slatted seats.... the slats should be thin enough to be flexible for comfort IMHO. If they don't flex a little then it could be like sitting on a 2x4. Ash or yellow birch should be strong and flexible, and might look good, depending on the color of the canoe.

This is a poor quality photo, there are probably better ones in his books.

A babiche seat. I believe you can make your own.. maybe on a Conk seat frame.
