Glenn's Happy National Limerick Day header

I appreciate Glenn's 'Happy National ..... Day headers! So, how about we give a limerick a try? I'll start.

My long-term canoe project nears its close,
And the details have kept me on my toes,

The fact is.... I'd rather be tripping,
With water from my paddle dripping,

But once I get out there, I'll be mobbed by mosquitoes.

It’s as close to tripping as I get
A beltline that’s growing
Reinforces my knowing
I couldn’t portage 3 meters I bet

The only limericks I know would be deleted
but I'll think of something so as not to be defeated.

All day long I've been trying to glean
some sort of clue or remembered theme
but I've had no success
not even a guess
at what the heck 'AABBA' means

I think I may have figured it out, yeah!
I hope I'm not wrong or thinking astray
Lines one and two rhyme
Lines three and four match to keep time
Then we end where we start with AABBA
