We go over early to the AFCS to attend WHCA events and do some canoeing locally. The canoes displayed on the green are beautiful. This is happening in conjunction with the Annual Assembly of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association.
Glenn, perhaps we'll get a chance to meet and talk canoeing. Are you bringing a canoe with you?I'm planning on being at the WCHA Assembly and sneaking over to Church Pond to visit the freestylers, too.

Would love to see a Functional Freestyle course in FL!
If it works out maybe some of us could do a quick canoe right out of Paul Smiths. And locally there's Black Pond, Osgood Pond, Barnum Pond...I'll probably bring my Swift Kee 15 and leave it on my car during Assembly, perhaps to do some day canoeing...

I'll have my 13.5' sport canoe so will be more interested in meandering than maximizing miles. =-)
Marc Ornstein used to run the Florida Freestyle Symposium in Yulee, just north of Jacksonville. It ran for a few years around 2010/11. I believe he now lives somewhere in west central Florida. Maybe he'll start something down there. The problem is probably that, even though Florida is a paddling paradise, most of the USA open canoe crowd is up in the Canadian border states.
