When we do the Allagash we eat very well. We bring 2, one is the freezer and the other is the refrigerator, (with very little beer). The frozen food is layered in sawdust and freezer blocks The freezer is only opened at night to remove the meal for the next night, thaw it in the refrigerator...

I think it also depends on where it is. If it's under a bridge in a built-up area hearts painted on a rock can be acceptable, the same thing in the backcountry, not so much.

I found this on the Tube which has a lot of information. It's mainly about Cast Iron but CHPs are Carbon Steel which are seasoned the same way.
