    Solo Tripping is Safer

I agree with "more cautious on solo trips". I portage lll and greater, wear a helmet when on the water, could slip and fall getting into the boat. On solo trips I travel light with almost indestructible plastic WW kayak or Roylex canoe. I also carry rope and carabiners to rescue my boat from a wrap.

The highest $ has been $845...

    Poling newbie questions

Love my nice big 17'2" Roylex Explorer. I’ve changed the thwart positions so l really have room to walk around. Very stable when at speed, I believe the advertising of he "shallow V" Hull. Generally used it for solo tripping. I have a 1/2" spike on my pole for poling on top of Fresh smooth ice.

    62 Years of Canoe Tripping

After a circuit of Algonquin with 15 miles of carries during Major Hurricane Andrew a coworker commented, "next time why don’t you just have your wife drop you off 30 miles form your house with the canoe and gear and you can just walk home.” 06333, CT
