Canned food v dehydrated & packed water

For lack of treatable water, I have/use a variety of hard-sides, 4, 5, and 6 gallon, similar to the aqua-tainers. The next replacement will be a couple of these in easier-to-carry/pack 10L size: https://www.lexingtoncontainercompany.com/Military-Water-Cans.html Not cheap, but definitely robust.

Bowron Lakes Aug 25-Sept 1 2017. No wind. No rain.

Nice report, lovely photos, thank you. Do you (or Mason?) know whether there is a limit on number of days? I'm wondering about extending the trip to 10-12 days with some layovers for hiking.

    greetings from northeast Oregon

Steve, I have not been on the Weiser, though I've looked at it intently many times on my way up or down 95. Thanks for reminding me, I'll put it on the list and try to let you know if I head that way. John

    greetings from northeast Oregon

Jim, you're close, it's the Alsea, indeed a pretty river, with an active fishery in its lower reaches. I haven't read everything on this site yet, but I've enjoyed your posts on the construction/repair forum. Mason, you know the neighborhood well. I've been in La Grande since '94. Maybe we've...

    greetings from northeast Oregon

Hello trippers, I've been away from the canoeing world for decades, and looking forward to returning to those river and lake roots. Plenty of river time over those decades, in rafts and dories on these big western creeks -- Snake, Salmon, Owyhee, Rogue, John Day, Grande Ronde, Green, Yampa...
