    New to me, canoe gun

It's been a while since I heard about the Savage 24. I had one back around 1968. It was 222/20ga that I got for turkey. Problem was you couldn't hit the broad side of the barn with it. It just shot everywhere so I pawned it for something else. Although it was a nice handling gun.

Exploring the Jordan River - Raquette Boreal Complex - Adirondack Park

Great job! Enjoyed your post with my morning coffee, great way to start the day. I enjoyed the pictures of the river but especially liked the picture of the white pine. Very few things survive that long.

    East coast beaver attacks.

Alan, I believe you are correct that Rabies is on the rise. The reason the Game Commission told me not to shoot a rabie victim in the head was the virus lives in the head and shooting allows the virus to escape .

    East coast beaver attacks.

Rabies in wildlife is a terrible thing to see. Living in the country and growing up on the farm I have seen many different animals with it. I think I've seen more skunks sick with it then any other animal. I've seen them go blind and lose control of their brain making them go in circle. I've...

The past few weeks was a sad time when the local historic courthouse Elm tree in Wellsboro Pa had to be removed after 300 years. The tree is believed to have been a mature young tree before the Revolution war. The tree was a fixture for generations of residents and visitors. Arborists found...

Poll: How old were you when you got YOUR OWN first canoe (and what was it)?

I got my first canoe in the laundry room of my college dorm where I made a skin on wood frame canvas canoe. I was in college had no money and needed a boat to go fishing so I made one. I can still remember the day it was finished and I was taking it out for the first time. Everyone in school...
