Welcome! That Shearwater looks fun, did it survive? Every time we get a new member from Florida all I can think is there is no way I’m getting in a canoe with all those gators. I guess you get used to it, but you’re braver than I would be.

The pack setup came with kayak footpegs, they’re still in there. I use them most often when I’m doing switch paddling with my bent shaft. I find them useful, I don’t think you’ll regret getting them installed.

I always wear a pfd on a paddle board. I don't use them very often and I'm apt to fall in. I don't really have much interest in this new pdf style. I can see the use, but I'm fine with the one I have.

I just switched over to single blade this year and I went with Bending Branches. I went with something similar to the Explorer, but if you're not paddling in rocky/rough places you might be fine with a Traveler or even a Beavertail. The correct length is important but difficult to nail down...
