    Allagash peak time advice?

Best advice would be to get up and on the water early, (you'll also see more moose that way). We've only had to share once and we were the askies. If you don't feel comfortable running LL Dam you can look at lining on River Left which is still a lot better then the Carry on the Right. You can...

We have a lot more birds now but the real sign of spring here is, my wife has taken over the dining room many with trays of Native Perennial Pollinators, complete with new shelving and grow lights

I've got to go with the lightweight canoe. I like long trips and would have had to give it up by now.

    Happy Canada Day

Today was the first blooming of a patch of Canada Lilies, Lilium canadense. I have watched this patch for about 12 years, I found them in a stand of Knotweed so dense my Lab won't go into it to retrieve his ball. Two years ago I started hammering the knotweed every couple of weeks. Last year I...

Kevin Callan: Death of the Campfire

This is one of the reasons I quit hiking in the Whites, most places have no fires. Then you look at most of the people, and that's most likely a good thing. I'm not dressed without my knife, I'm not going to the woods without a campfire. I REALLY enjoy sitting and watching the flames, especially...
