    Best all-around design?

So what characteristics make a "Prospector" a Prospector?

    Best all-around design?

I have learned a lot about canoes in the past year. My first canoe was a 16' OT Camper, which is stable, great on ponds/flat water, but not very dynamic on moving water. About a year ago, I picked up an Esquif "Echo" and quickly learned that soloing is an entirely different experience from...

WTB: MR Duck Hunter, Malecite, or Indy

Picked up this 17’ DH last weekend. It was made in 99 and I'm the third owner. It’s in great condition.

WTB: MR Duck Hunter, Malecite, or Indy

Thanks. The first one looks very different when not wet, the seller of the second one hasn’t responded to messages.

I need to losen the screws on the ash trim on my Esquif Echo. How far should I loosen the screws? Thanks, JDG

That's pretty consistant with what I have read about the Malecite's. Ptoblem is, finding one that's reasonably close to pick up. An Explorer is also on my list - I would like to find a Duck Hunter that hasn't been beat to heck.

What next? Need recommendations for a solo-able tandem canoe.

Thanks for reminding me to finish my profile. I live in SE Michigan and I spend a lot of time on the AuSable, usually the South Branch, or on small lakes. I know that most tandoms can be paddled solo but some paddle solo better than others. I have paddled my Camper solo, sitting in the bow...

What next? Need recommendations for a solo-able tandem canoe.

I have an Esquif “Echo” and an OT Camper and I am looking to add another canoe (used) I’m thinking a tandem that performs well paddled solo or a solo built on a tandem hull, like a MR Independence. I don’t expect to be doing much in the way of tripping, but at 6’1”, 245, I’m a pretty big guy...

WTB: MR Independence (Kevlar) or an OT Penobscot 15 Solo

I'm looking for an MR Independence or an OY Penobscot15 Solo. I’m in SE Michigan, and finding one in Michigan, Indiana, or Ohio would be ideal. The better the condition, the better. I am not looking for a “project” that needs to be restored. Maybe there's one that was owned by the proverbial...
