Yup - the trouble is keeping my paddle downstream on the left means turning away from the camera. I thought I would try turning into the camera, but I should have switched my paddle to the right first. I was lucky to get this picture considering how quickly I dumped.

I wonder if you could do a downstream poling run at 1200 cfs. - you would probably need to kneel for the bigger rapids. Maybe one of the polers will chime in. Its ME so someone must have tried it. I have friends who poled up Spencer Stream as part of the NFCT.

As long as you don't go too far into NY, I'd definitely be interested. The flatwater sections of the Housatonic are nice - Sheffield, MA to Ashley Falls, MA, or Ashley Falls, MA to Falls Village, CT.

Surfs great - different than the RX version. In my RX Outrage, the bow tends to dig into the wave in front of the hole - often filling up the boat and limiting how far into the hole I will go. In the composite Outrage, the the boat is lighter and the bow rode up up the wave rather than digging...

Just bought a new 56" Werner Bandit Carbon from NRS. They charged me an extra $20 and shipped it Fedex. Its on its way. First time I've bought a carbon paddle. The fiberglass version was out of stock. It replaces the paddle that I threw away trying to swim out of Lower Poplar.

It was not a fun swim - I was way out in the middle, and it was a long way to shore. I swam as best I could to the left shore and got there eventually. Of course, my boat ended up on the right.
