We did not win. We were in the OC2 Master (AKA Old Fogey) class, which only had two boats. We started first, and the lead changed 5 times as both boats got hung up on rocks and in shallow water. Another mile longer and the lead probably would have changed again. At least we didn't swim.

It's been dry here too, but last week we had 3" of rain, so the USACE have been releasing from this dam. There will be 4 dam releases in the next 5 weeks, and I hope to paddle all of them. We'll see - Easter is in there too. Hopefully you will get the roads rebuilt - that must be awful.

Best we can do around here is a Dunkin (Donuts) next to the Assabet River in West Concord, MA. You do need to get out of your boat to walk over, but its a nice place to take a break. 4 or 5 guys show up in dry suits and you get some interesting looks from the locals. :cool:

We haven't had a winter like that in a while. Lakes and ponds freeze and the deadwater above the dams, but it doesn't stay cold long enough to freeze up real thick or the freeze the moving water sections of the rivers. I kind of wish it would - nothing like a big ice flow to clean out strainers...
