Yep, that's the one. I started doing that way back when I was paddling a Prospector 16 solo with an ottertail. You can get that blade way under the boat - and what a difference that makes!

^It's good instruction. I do that deep C stroke starting out or starting an onside turn all the time. Didn't know it had a name other than C stroke. It's definitely not for the limber-challenged. (Which I resembled early on)

I misread a pretty technical rapid last week and hit a rock I didn't see. Knocked a little chunk off the bow. A little thickened g-flex covered with plastic wrap fixed it right up. So many other scratches already, no one else will ever notice. :D

It doesn't take much, but I think you'll need a little more than that. I bought this can of it that will probably last me years. I've done skids on three boats and some smaller repairs and fabrications, and I've only used maybe 1/6 of the contents.

Appears that the Merlin is more similar to my Clipper Solitude. I don't need that redundancy. Come to think of it, that Wenonah Moccasin is probably an even closer match to the Merlin.

I always add graphite as pigment, just for the UV resistance. Like the "little black dress", it goes with any color.

IME, the heeling isn't even the point - as far as efficiency or tracking. If you're paddling near the middle, getting close to one side makes it easier to paddle effectively. It just happens to cause the boat to heel, depending on the load. The only other reasons to want to heel the boat would...

Biggest game changer for me has been my first canoe pole and Harry Rock's book and video. That increased my time on moving water immensely, and got me to places that wouldn't otherwise be accessible to me. The book got me started, but the video got me past the plateau. Other than that, yeah...
