New food limits for personal use when entering Canada

The issue I see isn't weight, it's bulk. For instance, this container says it contains 1.4 kg, but it measures out to about 27 liters. If they count it as dried products, no problem. But if they count it as mixed, maybe not? It's not abundantly clear to me.

New food limits for personal use when entering Canada

I wonder if freeze dried meals count as dried products or multi-ingredient foods.

Anybody know where I can find these knee pads?

Yes! The measurements are the same. Thanks!

Anybody know where I can find these knee pads?

Thanks! Don't know how I missed those.

Anybody know where I can find these knee pads?

I like these a lot. They came on the Solo 14 that I bought used years ago. I could just make them, but it would be nice if I didn't have to. I don't see them anywhere.

I keep hoping I can do that.

My First Canoe, Old Town Sportsman 119

I will be especially interested in how you do the anchor setup. I've been considering the same for one of my solo canoes that I do most of my fishing in.

1982 Mohawk Intrepid - To Repair or To Not Repair

+1 on not removing the vinyl. I've never had a problem with epoxy or paint sticking to the vinyl skin. How bad are the gunwales? Unless they're actually broken or so bent that they change the shape of the hull below the top of the chines, I would just leave them be and paddle it.

My First Canoe, Old Town Sportsman 119

Welcome, ROB! First thing I want to say is - make no apologies for your canoe. Up until a few years ago, I would have assumed that the Discovery 119 is a very limiting hull. But then I follwed a guy who was in one going down a stretch of class 2+ (some say 3) here. And yeah, he was kneeling with...

Comparing speed and efficiency of single vs. double blade paddle

Now that I think more on it with that in mind, if I was selling solo recreational canoes and sponsoring that race, I would probably at least discourage the use of single blades just to make sure everyone has a good time. Nothing wrong with that. Makes sense to me now.

Thoughts on double bladed paddles from a somewhat experienced double blader.

I've mentioned this before. The long blade does a pretty good imitation of a sailboat keel when paddling broadside to the wind. The most efficient deep keels are long and narrow, like a sailplane wing. My gut tells me (having compared but not measured scientifically) that this carries over to...

Comparing speed and efficiency of single vs. double blade paddle

I could one-up your cynicism and ask if any paddle makers are sponsoring these races. :D

Bent vs. straight paddle - direct comparison plus bonus footage

My grandson asked just the other day, "how many paddles do you have, Papa?" " Not as many as I'd like." :) He hasn't seen all the canoes yet. :D

Thoughts on double bladed paddles from a somewhat experienced double blader.

I often bring an ottertail and a pole or two in the tandem. Anywhere I can't use the big paddle without harming it, I just pole.

    Hood strap failure

The 4 door cab on my truck is so long, there's no practical way to use hood loops with any of my canoes - none of them being over 17' long. The bars mounted to the cap are spaced pretty far apart and anchored well, but I wanted some kind of failsafe. So I mounted a third bar to the cab. Work's...

Now let's do beaver vs otter. :D I gave away my beavertail after trying the modified ottertail.

Comparing speed and efficiency of single vs. double blade paddle

I don't want to race though. My racing days ended long ago with the sale of my last motocross bike. But race rules, in my experience, have always been about either safety or limiting unfair advantages (real or perceived). Is there a safety advantage to requiring the double in this class meant to...

Bent vs. straight paddle - direct comparison plus bonus footage

I still think there is a noticeable difference in fatigue, but quantifying that might be pretty difficult. I'll have to do my comparison with wood. But first, I'll have to come up with a (cheap) heart monitor - and a day with no wind.....that I don't have some project thrust upon me.

Comparing speed and efficiency of single vs. double blade paddle

Well, I get that allowing a double helps participation. But disallowing a single blade? Does the presence of a single blade practitioner intimidate the kayakers???

Comparing speed and efficiency of single vs. double blade paddle

It still boggles my mind that the race would require paddling with a double. Surely there's a reason for that, but I can't think of a good one - unless the single is viewed as an unfair advantage. ;)
