    Swift Wildfire and Dragonfly

That amount of added weight will make no difference in stability…especially the cherry trim as it is at the top of the hull. Aesthetics is a personal choice. Time spent paddling will achieve the desired comfort level. Old axiom….The lighter the hull the more often it will get used. To me...

    Swift Wildfire and Dragonfly

Own Wild, paddled Dragon….Wild is what I call quick— fast acceleration. Dragon may be a bit faster when driven to and kept at hull speed, just depends on how long you want to paddle at that pace. At 250# I still find Wild fast enough, very playful and responsive. It would be my choice in your...

School me on sit/hit-and-switch in a short solo

Not in attendance for years now. CEW would no doubt explain the “inside circle” to teach uncorrected forward stroke but thought that too tough with words as it is difficult enough for most of us in person!😉 I am a kneeler so I paddle 99.9% on one side of the boat in flatwater, with the primary...

School me on sit/hit-and-switch in a short solo

Catch as far forward as possible without lunging forward, apply power in the first 12 inches or so of the uncorrected stroke. Stop before your hip and repeat. Switch when direction starts to change. As with all strokes, correct practice and time will improve results. Simplistic explanation but...

Sad News: Bob and Elaine Mravetz

Thanks for letting us know….it’s well deserved. When Elaine and Bob first came to FreeStyle their passion to improve was evident. I was fortunate to help teach them at the beginning. I do remember Elaine was very nervous about heeling the boat, but if you have watched any of her videos you can...

Question about Sanding Too Much on One Side of Stern

My interpretation of the comment to “work on the J stroke” is that it meant the small diversion from stem symmetry wouldn’t make any difference in hull performance….don’t want to speak for Gamma1214 but I took it that way, hence my agreement with the comment. No snarkyness intended.

Question about Sanding Too Much on One Side of Stern

Agree with Gamma1214…..BUT I have never built a canoe so I ask this out of pure curiosity…could some sort of filler be applied then reshaped? Seems like such a small amount…

Think you will really enjoy the Peregrine…very comfortable boat. Light and strong. Curtis/Hemlock canoes have been a blessing to the sport. Congrats.

Why are stern seats closer than bow seats to the ends of a tandem canoe?

It’s helpful to place a small ball on the floor.
