Is balsa wood a real option? I have never built one, but really enjoy these threads. It even inspired me to buy plans. I've tried to build stems, but, they bow off the form a bit. ( Don't compleatly conform to form). And have a very good feeling I would not be able to cut strips uniformly...

Me too, the wood rails are nice. And durability vs weight is not to bad, with the aide of some wheels. but after reading a recent post I wonder how tformx is in the cold as for as storage. Also i have heard of people narrowing them, for different effects. A little higher sides would be nice...

Those echos are pretty cool. i bet it would do good on the NFCT, in the sense it would take a beating, but maybe not as good on big choppy lakes. I have a hemlock kestrel and enjoy it, but need more time in the seat.

My maple has gone straight to brown, crazy leaf loss, but straight to brown. Some others going red. One thing I've noticed, is the loss of birds? My feeders stay full much longer. Also the berry's on my dog woods are not being devoured by the rodents(squirls and chipmunks) also various birds...
