Blackhawk Solo for sale - Rochester NY Craigs List

That's great! I am often confused by folks who have read about a boat being 'tippy' and not take into account perspective. I think kayakers adapt more quickly to narrow solo canoe hulls.

Blackhawk Solo for sale - Rochester NY Craigs List

That's awesome! No need to go lower on the seat then? The Zephyr has a lot of bow flare, I used to push it through whitecaps on Hemlock Lake and never take on water.

Blackhawk Solo for sale - Rochester NY Craigs List

It was nice to meet you and your husband. I'm so glad the boat went to someone who will appreciate it for the beautiful lines and unique handling characteristics. The reviews never really capture the personality of the Zephyr. Members here may be delighted to know that you are a kayaker who...

Blackhawk Solo for sale - Rochester NY Craigs List

Sold this morning to a young lady with ambition and an appreciation for all things vintage. Got a lot of lookers this time, and I don't know how many 'Is it available' that I never heard back from.

Blackhawk Solo for sale - Rochester NY Craigs List

Well Dan, I never heard back from you after responding to your inquiry and making the video of the hull back in early June, so I must have missed your offer. I apologize. And I do appreciate the kind words on the North American Canoe Traders FB Group to help me find her a new home.

Blackhawk Solo for sale - Rochester NY Craigs List

Yes.............. for sale yet again. Can't seem to find an experienced paddler to buy her, so dropped the seat as low as I had bolts for and drilled the hull (much to some folks' chagrin) for a Wenonah foot bar hoping to find a novice with ambition. I would not have reposted it here again...

    Backrest for a Busted Back

As I rotated my torso, it would catch me in or under the shoulder blade, tried multiple height adjustments to no avail. I guess I don't rotate with a single blade, as it never happened in the Mini-Canak. What I liked most about the Cushgear is the adjustability: height and angle. plus there is...

    Backrest for a Busted Back

I'm kind of in the same place. I was all set to get a Cushgear Seat-back from Wenonah, and then they went off-sale. I tried one in a test paddle on the Wenonah Wee Lassie a few years ago and didn't care for it, mainly because it interfered with my kayak paddle stroke, but then I bought a...

    replacing Wenonah adjustable seat

Yeah, I hated the ones on my Vagabond UL Kevlar. The angle Wenonah chose was too steep for my taste; I ended up securing the plates on both sides to the brackets on the gunnels at the angle and height that I like with four screws. No more adjustment, but I never really did that anyway.

    Web Yoke or Strap Yoke

That's why Wenenoh came up with that contraption that mounts on the rails and provides some clearance for your head. https://wenonah.com/Items.aspx?id=59 Too bad they are so dang expensive, even on sale!

    Canoe Identification

Good luck with the reno-job, Dave. These old Canadian made fiberglass canoes often get a bad rap, and the quality has had highs and lows over the years, but the price is usually right. I have a Sportcraft in the fleet for the once or twice a year the Mrs. wants to paddle with me.

    Royalex UV damage

I bought the Sandpiper for bony streams I frequent in upstate NY; the beauty of RX is that it takes a beating (well, unless weathered) that puts composites in harm's way. I bought it sight unseen, so was unaware of actual condition (sure looked good in the pics!). Sold it to a guy who just...

    Royalex UV damage

I made the mistake of buying a Wenonah Sandpiper a couple years back that had been stored for decades in the elements. It wasn't so much the aesthetics of the dull chalky vinyl outer skin that concerned me, but the Royalex had lost all of its pliability, in fact it was so hard and brittle one...

    Canoe Identification

Those cast aluminum deck handles were used by both Great Canadian (HIN prefix ZEF) and Sport Craft (HIN prefix ZAS). Some Sport Craft boats had an Indian head sticker on both sides of the bow, Great Canadian had a Maple Leaf sticker. The Hull Identification Number will tell the tale.

    Swift canoes demo day

Mountainman used to charge $20 for three test paddles, but I have squeezed out a fourth on a few occasions. Where else can you get access to Wenonah, Swift, Esquif, and Northstar in one place? Only bought one boat from them though, as they store most of the canoes outdoors, exposed to the...
