I would go with the Echo, the ADK is just a Pack clone, so expect the same performance. You don't say where you are, but if you are not far from Rochester NY, Oak Orchard Canoe has an Echo Demo for sale at $1499, same price as a new Adirondack. Lots of used Royalex solos at that price point...

Oh, folks get the ID wrong all the time. But in this case they would have deliberately had the Merlin decal placed on the stern, so I'm thinking maybe it's legit. If it were here in the NE, I'd be inclined to pick it up and we'd know for sure.

You might be right about the Merlin Emblem, looks off compared to the catalogue. I had a Merlin II as well, but I can't see why anyone would try to pass a Merlin II off as its predecessor.
